Rapid City Utility System Master Plan

Sanitary Sewer Manhole Inventory

As part of the Utility Master Plan 5,000 sanitary sewer manholes were surveyed and evaluated.  There were up to 4 field crews operating within the City using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to survey the locations and assess the internal features of each manhole.  The sanitary sewer manholes are largely found within the road network of the City and as such required the survey crews to partially block a lane of a road for 10 – 15 minutes.  In order to minimize the effect on day to day activities within the City and maintain a safe working environment for data collection staff, weekly Public Service Announcements and Maps were posted to define the areas of town crews would be working.  We greatly appreciate your patience and consideration as field crews were collecting data.
